Supercell (Old with website)
Supercell
Supercell makes the most popular mobile games on the App Store. I served as creative lead on the account — helping grow the business from a one-off site build to a digital AOR in the process. What follows are selects from that relationship.
We were first approached to create the website for Supercell’s flagship IP Clash of Clans — with 100M+ daily active players.
CLASHOFCLANS.com
From serving up battle strategies to deep dives into character bios to ranked fanart competitions, the new site became a one-stop shop for players of every skill level.
After the successful launch of Clashofclans.com, the team was back with a new challenge: how could we give players the information they needed to improve without interrupting gameplay? With Supercell’s popular Boom Beach as our stomping grounds, we created a messaging hub designed to be as unobtrusive as it was helpful.
The Boom Beach Boombox is an in-game messaging hub that seamlessly serves players content tailored to their progression.
For every troop, a bio. For every power-up, a strategy — for over 20 levels of gameplay. In the process, I was lucky enough to become the first person outside of Supercell to write directly into one of their games.
The model was so successful that we created iterations for Clash of Clans and Clash Royale — evolving the tool into Supercell’s main avenue of communication with their player base.
THE SUMMER OF 2v2
Finally, we needed to engage the Clash Royale community around a new 2v2 mode.
The Book of Legends
A Facebook plugin that let fans create their own digital fairytale. The twist? The only way they could access the BoL was alongside their 2v2 partner. When both players logged in together, the book opened and generated a personalized story celebrating their bond.
